MANILA, Philippines – Due to heavy flooding caused by storm “Ondoy” over the weekend, the licensure exam for teachers was rescheduled to October 4 an official from the Professional Regulatory Board (PRC) said.
Lawyer Diosdado Lalusis, head of the PRC licensure office, told INQUIRER.net that the Licensure (board) Examination for Teachers (LET) originally set on September 27 was cancelled when Luzon was declared under a state of calamity as Ondoy’s floods submerged 80 percent of Metro Manila and over 90 percent of Rizal province.
To take up the exam on October 4, examiners should bring and present their September 27 admission slip for the LET exam and one valid ID to the examination centers where they had been enlisted.
“We have rescheduled the LET on October 4 after the heads of schools in Manila City confirmed that we can use the eight public schools designated as examination centers for LET on October 4, with no changes in the room assignments. We are still coordinating with the private colleges and we are optimistic they can also be used on Sunday.” said Lalusis.
Examination centers in Manila include public schools Ramon Magsaysay High School, Aurora Quezon Elementary School, Araullo High School, Legarda Elementary School, V. Mapa High School, Barrio Obrero Elementary School, Dr. Albert Elementary School and General M. Hizon Elementary School; and private colleges University of the East, Centro Escolar University, University of Sto. Tomas, Central Colleges of the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon University, Arellano University, Universidad de Manila and La Consolacion College.
Examiners can also take up Let on different regional colleges and PRC regional offices.
Lalusis said examinees from the provinces who were scheduled to take the test in Metro Manila on September 27 but had left after this was cancelled could still take the exam without paying additional feels in April 2010 provided they would bring the September 21 admission slip and file an application form via the PRC main and regional offices to take the exam in April.
“Since we have LET every September and April, those who have left for the provinces after the September 27 exam was cancelled can still opt to take the exam on April 2010. We will announce the filing of application for taking up the April 2010 LET so teachers can go to our main or regional offices and be included in the master list.” said Lalusis.
Lalusis said of the 85,377 teachers who are expected to take up LET this weekend, about 18,962 are taking up the exam in Metro Manila.
