MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE 3) Six aspirants to the presidency have so far filed their candidacies, but only two were accepted by the Commission on Elections.

The second certificate of candidacy approved by the Comelec belonged to Gilbert Garcia, a quantum physics instructor from Biñan, Laguna.

The poll body also approved the CoC of Rigoberto Madera, who identified himself as a “Messiah” and a member of the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan.

Madera, who is nicknamed N.N.N. or Najananan, which means diamond general and commander-in-chief on earth, filed his CoC at 8:40 a.m. and was the first one to do so.

Before Garcia was David Almorong, 70, who claimed to be a retired general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines but his CoC was rejected by the Comelec.

Lawyer Oliver Lozano’s bid was likewise rejected by the Comelec because the CoC was filed through a representative, Mel Chavez, in violation of a poll resolution stating that the certificate must be filed by the candidate personally.

The candidacies of Josefino Morillo, a masseuse at West Avenue in Quezon City whose advocacy is education and Noel Aguirre, a former OFW from Jeddah and an advocate against corruption and for economic stability, were likewise dismissed by the poll body for lack of necessary documents.

Meanwhile, Victorino Inte, 55, a political science graduate from Loboc, Bohol, was the first to file his CoC for senator.

He was followed by Mei Lau Loquero, who claimed to be the National Capital Region’s House representative and a majority floor leader from 2007 to 2008. She was disqualified for lack of proper documents.
