MANILA, Philippines— (UPDATE) The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday signed the contract for the cleansing of the computerized voters’ list (CVL) with the Unison joint venture.

Comelec chairman Jose Melo said Unison joint venture composed of Unison Computer Systems Inc., Lamco Paper Products Co. Inc., and NEC Philippines Inc. tendered the lowest calculated responsive bid of 1.59 billion (exactly P1,599,986,484.42) for the biometrics project. Read the rest of this entry »

MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has awarded the P1.6 billion project for cleansing the computerized voters’ list to the Unison joint venture, an official said.

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections “post-disqualified” a bidder for the P1.6 billion project that would be used to purge its computerized voters’ list or CVL, a spokesperson said.

During the post qualification process of bid documents, the agency’s bids and awards committee (BAC) found that the joint venture of Strategic Alliance Holding Inc. (SAHI)-Tiger IT, which bid P1.216 billion for the project, failed to comply with the standards and requirements in the legal and technical specifications for the automated fingerprint identification (AFIS) system, said Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez.
