MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) could “take over” the position vacated by a Filipino firm in a technology consortium tasked automate the 2010 elections so that it would push through, an elections official said.

Comelec denies another bidder’s appeal

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATE) The Commission on Elections has denied the appeal of the AMA Group Holdings-Elections Systems & Software International consortium to bid again for the P11.2-billion automation project, an election official overseeing the bids said.

Comelec all set for May 4 automation bid

MANILA, Philippines – It’s all systems go for the public bidding on the P11.2 billion automation contract for the 2010 polls on Monday, an official of the Commission on Elections said Friday.

“The opening of bids on Monday [May 4] is a very crucial step in automating the elections because it is a make or break for us to automate the 2010 elections. The bidding must be done right the first time so we held two mock biddings, on April 8 and April 30,” said Ferdinand Rafanan, chairman of the Comelec’s special bids and awards committee (SBAC).

Comelec group answers queries on bid

MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) Special Bids and Awards Committee (SBAC) has answered in a bid bulletin queries on the bid documents for the automation project, an official said.

SBAC chairman Ferdinand Rafanan said the committee deliberated on the queries posed by prospective bidders on the terms of reference and request for proposal (TOR/RFP) for 2010 poll automation project and issued answers in a bid bulletin, which becomes part of the bid documents.
